I was a Bears fan when I was a kid. Born in the 50's Gale Sayers was the best when I was a kid. You know we didn't get many channels when I was a kid but there was always a game from the "Black and Blue" Division on TV on Sunday. The Bears, Packers, Vikings, and Lions were what we watched. Usually just one game was on. Oh once in a while we saw YA Tittle of the Giants or Sonny Jurgeson of the Redskins, or maybe even Roman Gabriel of the Rams but not often.

Gale Sayers was in the three best running backs I have ever seen and there have been a bunch. Jim Brown, Gale Sayers, and Barry Sanders are my best. There have been some very athletic running backs lately but not the best running backs. Gale Sayers was special!!! We will miss him but those memories won't go away!

Bob Gibson! He completely dominated in baseball. There was Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale of the Dodgers but Bob Gibson!!! WOW! I remember as a kid I would go to David Neill's house at noon during the World Series so we could watch a couple of innings during our lunch hour. Gibson struck out 17 or 18 batters in one game and I think that is still a record. Radio was big back then and most of the Tv sets were black and white but it was so fun to watch Bob Gibson and he was from OMAHA too!

My favorite team was the Yankees back then and their best picture was Whitey Ford! He won 70% of his games during his career. Pretty darn good. He had a strong supporting cast with Elston Howard, Yogi Berra, Joe Pepitone, Moose Skowron, Bobby Richardson, Tony Kubek, Clete Boyer, Tom Tresh, Mickey Mantle, and Roger Maris. Love the Yankees and love Whitey Ford!

Such Memories.................

Johnny Boehlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16004335725799240144noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27298851.post-27364076996631899312020-09-08T04:44:00.001-07:002020-09-08T04:44:11.096-07:00The Best Grilled Ham and Cheese Ever | SAM THE COOKING GUY
Johnny Boehlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16004335725799240144noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27298851.post-50100859916896603072020-09-05T18:17:00.001-07:002020-09-05T18:17:27.876-07:00NASCAR classic finish: Ross Chastain, Denny Hamlin wreck at Darlington; What an event. We did get rained out but we did get to watch all the days up to the race. Brother Bryce was a great host. After that we went to four NASCAR races and they were just as awesome!! The Indianapolis 500 has been huge with us older guys. I am not sure if the younger generation gets as fired up about this as I do.

Today Nebraska baseball plays for the Big10 Championship! Go Huskers! We can win this thing! Pitching will be huge! I think we will score some runs! What great fun this has been to watch! Very intense at times but very fun to watch! Around 4pm it starts. The winner of the Ohio St - Minnesota game will play the Huskers! Right now it is 0-0 in the 2nd inning!

Bart Starr passed away at 85. I rode in a plane with him once and also watched him get recognized at a Packers' game in Green Bay!
