Moutain Lion taken on camera near Orleans on Republican River
Got this picture on my trail camera three miles east of Orleans along the Republican River. I wished I would have got the whole picture but pretty sure that is a mountain lion. The tail gives it away.

What happened?
The UCLA is still a mystery to this writer. Nebraska was playing a team that had lost one of its players last week to a tragic accident. How would UCLA react? It seemed like they were down all the first quarter and a good part of the second quarter. Nebraska needed a couple of more big plays and UCLA would have, it appeared, been unable to come back this day.
They have a good team but mentally things weren't going well at all. Then we had the missed sack and Hundley converted what should have been fourth and 20 to a first down. They then scored and made the scoer 20-13 at halftime.
It gave them hope and a rise in spirits and control of the game. In the mean time Nebraska made a lot of mental mistakes and didn't make tackles. The offense sputtered at best and never did really get going after the second quarter. The result was UCLA 41 Nebraska 21. Yes Nebraska led 21-3 in the second quarter.
Then on Monday the tape comes out. No surprise as to its content. It least it shouldn't be. It was like a husband yelling at his wife in total anger but this time it is taped and two years later released.
I don't like what I heard but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I wished it hadn't happened but it did.
I just view what is best for Nebraska. I am not pro or con Pelini. I want the Nebraska team to give their best every week. That's what I want. We didn't get that the last two and whatever quarters last Saturday. We hope play gets better in the upcoming weeks.
Martinez is hurt. It was apparent he was hurt vs. UCLA. They begged him to run. This week we get a dose of Tommy Armstrong Jr. and possibly Ron Kellogg III. We have an infusion of something different. It could be great if we get started out strong or it could be bad with a couple of quick interceptions. I think it will be a positive.
Nebraska wins 48-20 over South Dakota St.

UCLA Prediction
This hasbeen a tough week for UCLA with the death of WR Nick Pasquate. This has been hard on the coaches and the players. Our hearts our out to them. The Huskers will have #36 on their helmets tomorrow in his honor.
UCLA has only played Nevada this year. They played it well. Nebraska will be a tougher opponent for them.
Brett Hundley is back after killing the Nebraska defense last year. Well, he is only bigger, smarter, and better this year. His offensive line is well improved.
Jordan James takes over for Jonathan Franklin, who is now playing for the Packers. He is good but probably not as good as Franklin was last year.
Defensively their front seven is stronger than last year. They mix youth with experience. They will challenge us.
They don't have much for a placekicker so that will be an advantage for Nebraska.
Now on to the prediction. I have this game being a tie after regulation at 35-35.
After three overtimes, I predict as score of:
Nebraska 52 UCLA 49

Nebraska wins better tomorrow
Nebraska has the nation's No. 1 winning streak in season openers with 28 but ,oh my, last week was close. This week Nebraska wins better. Nor perfect. Not up to Nebraska standards but as this year's journey goes, we win with improvements.
Nebraska 48 Southern Mississippi 20
There will be some 50 to 30 games this year. At least that's the way it looks right now.
Upset specials for tomorrow!
Arkansas State 28 Auburn 27
Notre Dame 27 Michigan 24
Tommy Armstrong Jr. and Ron Kellogg III will get playing time tonorrow. New chapters to the future. One of the reserve receivers will have a breakout day. Will it be Alonzo Moore, Jordan Westerkamp, Sam Burtch, Taariq Allen, Cethan Carter, Tyler Wullenwaber, or maybe even somebody else? Of course Enunwa, Turner, Bell, and Long will have good days.
Who will lead the rushing attack this week? Martinez, Abdullah, Cross, or Newby? King Frazier?
Watch for a couple of new faces in the secondary.
Let the game begin!!

Phew!
I predicted a score of 48 to 17 Nebraska and felt late in the 3rd quarter that it was going to be right on. But Wyoming had other thoughts!! Brett Smith, the fabulous Wyoming quarterback, tried to play miracle worker and almost succeeded.
Smith was 29 of 43 in passing for 383 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran eight times for 92 yards. Shawn Wick ran 12 times for 101 yards and 8.4 ypc. Wyoming averaged 7.3 yards a carry. Dominic Rufran and Jalen Claiborne had 18 receptions for 208 yards. Robert Herron caught four passes for 91 yards. Our young defense struggled.
Smith had little pressure put on him during the game. It seemed when NU did blitz it worked pretty well. But we just couldn't get sacks. Even when Randy Gregory had a game saving sack he got a questionable flag.
The defense played well most of the time and then bam they would give up ten yards here and twenty yards there. Hopefully we get things figured out. 602 total yards was about 250 yards too many against Wyoming.
Now all this happened in our newly built stadium. There was a record crowd of 91,185. The funniest sign of the night was in the east balcony and it read "We can see Wyoming from here!" It looked really high in the east balcony but I am sure they had a great view.
Nebraska had a six yard per carry average. That wasn't as good as I thought it would be but not bad. Abdullah had 114 yards with a 6.0 average, Cross had 105 yards with a 8.1 average, and Newby had 76 yards with a 5.1 average. Martinez added 80 yards with a 5.0 average.
Terrell Newby will be a nice back to have in reserve after Abdullah and Cross have their go. 59 yards for Newby came after contact. We are in good hands at running back.
Martinez was 17 of 22 for only 155 yards. He had no throws over 20 yards.
It just didn't seem like we could get a rhythm going on offense. We only had one long play in the game when Abdullah ran for 62 yards in the second quarter. You take that play out and he had 18 carries for 52 yards, There were many plays he just didn't have a hole to run.
Short passes ruled with Kenny Bell catching seven balls for 57 yards. Jamal Turner had four catches for 43 yards.
The kicking game was good with Mauri Bindi driving most kickoffs through the end zone and Sam Fult had six punts for a 45.6 yard average.
On offense there was no consistency and we had very few big plays. Defensively Stanley Jean-Baptiste played well. Freshmen Nathan Gerry played most of the game. Freshman Josh Banderas played many minutes. Either these guys are very good or the other linebackers have not developed well.
This week we play Southern Mississippi. They will be one of our easier games of the year. Let's hope we can dominate this game.
Rex Burkhead made the Cincinnati roster.
Surprisingly DeJon Gomes was cut along with Will Compton. Both had played well in preseason.
Eric Martin has made the Cleveland roster as linebacker.
Larry Asante was waived by the Colts. Zach Potter was released by the Rams. Ben Cotton was waived by the Chargers.
And Phil Bates was released by the Seahawks.
Nebraska is ranked 18th in the polls this week.
I saw the Pinnacle Arena on Saturday and WOW it is nice.
J.W. Walsh will start for Oklahoma St this week at quarterback. Texas quarterback David Ash threw for four touchdowns and ran in another last Saturday.
The Bleacher Report dropped Nebraska to No. 5 this week in the Big Ten. Northwestern is No. 4, Wisconsin No. 3, Michigan No. 2 and Ohio St. No. 1.
The NU baseball team picked up a 2015 recruit in shortstop Alex Henwood from Wisconsin.
DeJon Gomes has been claimed by Detroit.
