What's wrong???
I guess yesterday's games creates a lot of questions. Even more than I had before. I thought the game would be close but NU would win. Minnesota is better than most think and Nebraska just isn't that good right now.
I have always wanted what's best for Nebraska. I haven't joined the Fire Pelini group yet. But why aren't we playing better. Talent? Coaching? Both?
Minnesota made 7.7 yards on first down!! Can't win with that.
Imani Cross ran two times for four yards.
The Minnesota tight ends could have caught 400 total yards if they would have ran their pass play more. ???? Iowa might kill us with their tight ends.
Nebraska had won 16 games in a row vs. Minnesota!
Ameer Abdullah averaged 8.7 yards a carry and yet we passed 30 times on 60 plays.
What caused all of the dropped passes?
Re'Shede Hageman will be in the NFL soon. He is fun to watch!
Should Tommy Armstrong or Ron Kellogg have played a series or two to see how they did? Would it had mattered? Martinez still doesn;t look right.
Minnesota was much more physical and probably faster than NU? This shouldn't happen.
I guess I am now looking forward to NU basketball. Their first exhibition game is November 4th.
Jeff Gordon won today at Martinville and Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson are tied for the season points lead.
How about these potential coaches to replace Pelini if it ever comes about? These were listed in the Bleacher report. Nelson Briles, Baylor/Scott Frost/Oregon/David Cutcliffe/Duke/ Craig Bohl/ North Dakota St./Paul Rhodes/Iowa St.

Nebraska Prediction!
Nebraska always plays well after a bye week. At least that has been the trend. I just don't feel right about this game. I have an eerie feeling. Maybe because Halloween is here.
Last week Nebraska's previous six opponents were outscored 236 to 99. How good are we? Minnesota comes off a week that they beat Northwestern.
Minnesota is 119th in the nation in passing yards. Nebraska shouldn't be in trouble there but can Minnesota run the ball. In Big 10 play the answer is no.
Minnesota may have a 7 point edge on special teams with their return game. They may have a five point advantage with the home field.
The question is if Minnesota can run. I think they can be mildly successful at times.
The predictions for this game are mostly like 42-7 for Nebraska.
The eerie feeling tells me:
Nebraska 27 Minnesota 24
Hard to believe that Quincy Enunwa would have one more catch, 70 more yards, and four more touchdowns than Kenny Bell at this point.
Randy Gregory is awesome!
Ameer Abdullah has a 7.2 yards per carry average. Real nice.
It will be interesting to see how Taylor Martinez will do today. He has to be a little rusty. He will start today.
I feel bad for Jerry Kill. I think he is a great coach.
The Holdrege Dusters don't appear to have made the football playoffs. I thought they would make it in. They had a better than expected season this year.
13 days until the Nebraska men's BB opener vs. Florida Golf Coast.
BYU has accepted an invite to the Fight Hunger Bowl.
Nebraska volleyball beat Ohio St. in four sets last night in an away contest.

Sport Shorts!
Taylor Martinez is a game time decision on Saturday. Minnesota is inspired with Coach Jerry Kill's health. Look to this game to go to the final seconds to determine the winner. Nebraska is favored by 10.
Looks like Suuth Sioux City and Columbus are going back to Class A in football. Omaha Benson and Lincoln Pius are projected to go back to Class B. Hard to believe Benson is Class B.
This year's NU baseball recruiting class is rated 11th.
Jordan Hooper has been named to the preseason Top 30 list for the Wooden Award.

Jared Karlson and Walker Hohensee from Holdrege defend Class B Doubles Championship!
Holdrege's Jared Karlson and Walker Hohensee won the Class B tennis doubles championship again this year. Champions in 2012 and now 2013! Runner-ups in 2011.
Coached by Ray Ruybalid, the duo beat Omaha Skutt's Andrew Johnson and Zachary Pohlman 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) at the Abbots Sports Complex in Lincoln. The coach said the difference this year was mental toughness. Karlson/Hohensee were 34-0 this year.
Congrats to Jared and Walker, Coach Ruybalid, and the entire Holdrege tennis team!!!

Nebraska lands new football recruit!
It has been six weeks since we got our last commit. Today we got our 13th commit with Joshua Kalu. He is a three star safety from Houston. He chose Nebraska over Houston, Wake Forest, and Colorado.
Presently Nebraska is 48th in recruiting in the nation and seventh in the Big 10 according on the 247 national rankings.
Tennessee fired their band director today. That doesn't happen very often.
Men's BB coach Tim Miles wants the Huskers to have better discipline and decision making. We will need everything for this year's schedule. Miles likes how Walter Pitchford has evolved.
The basketball team has injuries. Tai Webster has a sprained ankle and has missed the past four practices. Freshman Tim Walker suffered a dislocated ankle and is lost for the season. He had eight screws and two plates inserted during his surgery.
Leslee Smith has been slowed by knee and hamstring problems.
The team has voted Shavon Shields, Terran Petteway, and Ray Gallegos as their captains. Shields and Petteway are sophomores. Miles says Petteway is his hardest worker.
Miles says he wants to run a fast, aggresive, attacking, fun style of play this season.
Kentucky is the preseason #1 in college basketball. Louisville is #2. Michigan St., Kansas, and Duke follow. Ohio St. is #9, Michigan #10, and Wisconsin #14.
Former Michigan St. wide receiver BJ Cunningham has signed to the Philadelphia Eagles active roster.
I hate that Spencer Long was injured Saturday with a knee injury. The All American may be out for the season. Let's hope not.
Nebraska will kickoff at 11:00 am against Minnesota on October 26th.
Nebraska will play the Oregon Ducks in 2016 and 2017. Wow!
Can anybody beat Alabama? History says yes!
In Nascar, Brian Vickers is out for the rest of the year with a bllod clot.
New Orleans tight end Jimmy Graham is out for a while with a leg injury. That will make some fantasy owners upset.
The St. Louis Cardinals are up 2-0 over the Dodgers. Third game is 2 to 0 Dodgers in the eighth.

Nebraska Prediction
Have you heard of Darrell Hazell before? He is the Purdue head coach. He was previously at Kent State. Hazell isn't afraid to shake things up. This week he has changed to a true freshman at quarterback, changed personnel in the offensive line, and even changed the defense.
Purdue has been getting blown out by most teams. Their only win was against Indiana St by seven points. But don't forget Nebraska hasn't played real well against mediocre teams this year.
Will this be a breakout game for Nebraska. Let's hope so but my gut says a close game.
Nebraska 28 Purdue 21

Good and the bad from the Illinois game.
Good
Fun game to watch!!
The offensive line dominated. Really dominated! One of their best performances in the last few years.
Tommy Armstrong Jr. looks pretty good.
Kenny Bell's one-handed grab for a touchdown. Doesn't get much better than that.
Ameer Abdullah running for 225 yards!
Bad
Where were the students for the game? About a fourth of them didn't show up and half were gone at halftime. Couldn't be because of the weather. Near perfect. Pretty disappointing and if it continues we need to reduce the student tickets so those that want to go to the game will support the team.
There was much confusion especially at the end of the game for defensive substitutions!
With that confusion there were penalties assessed.

Tommy Armstrong starts against Illinois!
Tommy Armstrong makes his second start this Saturday. This means Taylor Martinez is still not 100% and that the coaches have a lot of faith in his ability and Ron Kellogg's ability. Armstrong seems to have more open receivers because he seems to get the ball to them when they are open.
Also David Santos starts this week at the MIKE linebacker.

NU Prediction and NU basketball!
Saturday will be the first Big 10 game. Illinois will be a formidable opponent. Nebraska's defense will again be challenged. Another test. How good or bad are they? Will they improve with the bye week? Nebraska's three victories have come against Wyoming, Southern Mississippi, and South Dakota. These teams were outscored by 123-28 last weekend. Wyoming's opponent was Texas St. South Dakota St.'s opponent was North Dakota St. Boise St. beat Southern Miss. 60-7.
So how good is Nebraska? Game statistics are not impressive. This week will be another game to see where our place is in the national scene.
I would like to watch Tommy Armstrong r. and/or Ron Kellogg again this week. I think our offense clicks better with them playing.
This will be a "findout how good we are" game. At least it should give us an indication. In the second half versus South Dakota St., Nebraska held the Jackrabbits to 176 yards.
This week's prediction:
Nebraska 42 Illinois 28
Excitement is nearing for Nebraska basketball. There was an article in the paper today about Bill Fuller, a sharpshooter from Madison, Wisconsin. He is a freshman on the NU basketball team. He was heavily recruited by Minnesota and Butler. Sounds like this guy can shoot and Nebraska hasn't had many that were great shooters in the past several years. It will be fun to see how he does.
42 days and 30 practices until NU takes on Florida Golf Coast on November 8, 2013.
