NU Men's Basketball tonight!
See the Huskers on BTN at 6pm tonight. They play 22nd ranked Iowa at Iowa. A tough chore and this game will be like the Cincinnati game. NU will have to play at their best and hit a few 3's to win. Iowa has a 26 game winning streak on their court against unranked opponents.
Prediction
Iowa 75
Nebraska 65
Nebraska starts three sophomores and one freshman tonight.

What's really important!
Our Boehler Christmas is tomorrow. It's been a little over seven years ago since dad passed away. I still think about him everyday and miss him so much! I was going through some old papers and found the following. It brought tears to my eyes and I thought I would share it.
Janet, my wife, gave a devotional at her women's Church group shortly after dad passed away. She centered it on the "Purpose Driven Life's" Chapter 16. Her topic was "The Best Time to Love is Now". It says the best time to love is now because you don't know how long you will have the opportunity. The best use of life is love. The best expression of love is time. The best time to love is now.
Here's what Janet said,
"In September my father-in-law (Connie) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Needless to say the family was not expecting to hear such devastating news. But since the day of diagnosis my husband and his siblings were with their father every day (literally). John would make trips daily to Kearney, Alma, and Lincoln. Family would stay at the hospital in Lincoln several days at a time. The expression of love to their father would be envious of anyone that could have witnessed it. Connie was sent home from Bryan LGH in Lincoln on Tuesday because there was nothing else that could be done in Lincoln. Connie was ready to go back to the Alma Hospital. He even stopped and bought chocolate malts for Bryce, June, his wife and himself in York. That night was the best Connie had since his bad news a few weeks ago. He laughed with old friends, told jokes to his kids and even told June to go home and have a good night's rest. Well, the next day Connie took a turn for the worse and by 5:00 that afternoon the family was joined around the bed. Connie was coming in and out of consciousness but I honestly believe he was waiting for his last son, Scott, to arrive before going home to be with the Lord. Scott arrived around 6:00 p.m. from Lincoln and as he hugged his dad, Connie briefly opened his eyes as if he knew everyone was there. The last hour of Connie's life was bittersweet. After the arrival of Scott, John leaned over to his dad and said it's time to go home; we are all here now. We all held hands and prayed the Lord's Prayer and as we finished the last word of the prayer, Connie took his last breath. I have never felt more compassion and love as I did that moment. Our prayers had been answered and Connie was at a place he had been on earth preparing for."
Janet continued, " I look back now at the sacrifices each one of Connie's children and June made to spend every single moment with him they could, not knowing how much longer they would have with him here on earth. They had absolutely no regrets. That kind of love is what God intended us to share everyday and not when it's convenient for us or when it works in our schedule."
Janet said that when she finished there wasn't anybody that didn't have tears in their eyes. Dad was always proud of our close family.
So during this Christmas season dad is very much on our minds! We do miss him dearly.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Taylor Martinez is officially ruled out of the Gator Bowl as announced by Bo Pelini today.
Randy Gregory annnounced he is staying for another year at Nebraska. Great news!!
The NU men's basketball team is ranked 89th by Pomeroy. They play Cincinnati tomorrow at Cincinnati. Cincy is very very good at home. Cincinnati is rated 37th.
Deverell Biggs is not traveling to Cincinnati. Coach Tim Miles left him home when he showed up late for a film session.
Prediction:
Cincinnati 67 Nebraska 58
Right now it looks like NU will be a 6-12 team in the Big 10. Now if they can win two more and go 8-8, who knows, maybe they can go to the NCAA tournament.
We are just a few days away from the Gator Bowl. Its a rematch from last year. The 8-4 Huskers will be healthier for the game compared to the last two or three weeks of the regular season. The Huskers will put up a good effort and will hold close in the game. It may come down to a last second field goal. I look to the underdog Huskers (9 point underdogs) to end the season in grand fashion. Tommy Armstrong was the quarterback for only one loss this year. I don't think he will have another.
Prediction:
Nebraska 27 Georgia 24
The Oklahoma City Thunder announced that Russell Westbrook will be out seven weeks after having knee surgery.
Tony Romo is done for the season.
Aaron Rodgers will start for the Green Bay Packers.

Taylor and Love will lead Nebraska in the future!
I always like to see who the scout players of the year are. They usually star for Nebraska the following year or within two years. This year the offensive scout team player of the year is Adam Taylor, the freshman running back that redshirted this year. Jason Ankrah says he will be a special kid and that he has a lot of football ahead of him. Ciante Evans calls him "Physical".
The you have Courtney Love, the defensive scout team player of the year. They say that he looks like a grown man. Add Marcus Newby, who Jeremiah Sirles says he looks like a young Lavonte David. Both linebackers wowed the starting offense at times.
6'9" David Knevel looks to start at tackle next year. Some say he may have started this year or at least would have played a lot if he hadn't redshirted.
It will be interesting to see how fast quarterback Johnny Stanton rebounds from his injury.

NU basketball and volleyball
The volleyball team won Friday in three sets sweeping San Diego. Now its on to #1 Texas. It will be tonight on ESPNU. There will be a lot of Nebraska viewers I am sure. Go Huskers!
Nebraska plays Arkansas State in men' s basketball this afternoon. NU is 6-3 and Arkansas St. is 5-2. Arkansas St. has the top ranked 3 point shooter in the nation in Melvin Johnson. He is sitting at 64% from the three point line.
Arkansas St. starts five seniors! Arkansas St. coach John Brady led LSU to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2000 and the Final Four in 2006.
Prediction: Nebraska 80 Arkansas 70
The Creighton women play at Nebraska today at 11 am.

I feel strongly that I don't feel strongly either way on if Bo Pelini should be fired or not. Unless you have a donor that wants to pick up approximately $12.5 million in salaries for Bo and his assistants, then the athletic department should not fund it. An even bigger question is who wants to come to NU that will be better than Bo Pelini. There are lots of good coaches out there but how many want to come to Nebraska right now. I really don't don't know. I really don't know how good Bo really is.
I do know that we had more than our share of injuries this year. I think the coaches, team, and fans all expected much more this year with our easier schedule and most of our offense was back. But after the multiple injuries happened we were patching in all kinds of replacements who overall did a good job but they weren't as good as the starters would have been.
Nebraska can't get Chris Peterson. He is headed to Washington. Nebraska can't Sarkasian. He went to USC.
Pelini has his blood pressure go up with the sight of somebody from the press and he many times is an embarassment to himself, Nebraska, and the program. He has to figure out a way to overcome this. The press will continue to go after him so it probably won't get better until we start to win more games. Pelini is not media friendly.
Tim Miles is and his is still in his honeymoon period with the Nebraska people and media. But Tim Miles takes a positive approach to meeting with the media. Really Bo Pelini never has. If he can't do it then they need a spokesman for the team and keep Pelini out of it. Of course he should take a cut in pay for giving up part of his responsibilities.
Dirk Chatelain asks the question of why we play a South Carolina St. but we don't play an UNO 60 miles away. Good question.
Nebraska basketball played much better against Miami Fla the other night. They will be competitive but don't set the bar too high as they have much to improve yet.
Walter Pitchford has zero turnovers this year.
Nebraska climbed from 105th to 92nd in the Pomeroy ratings. Quite a jump. Nebraska is projected to have a losing season this year and to only win one in every three games in the Big 10. Hopefully we will do better and we are improving.
Tomorrow we play Creighton in Omaha. It will be a very tough fame. Creighton should win this one. Doug McDermott is somebody we can't really match up with. We have to keep him down to win.
PREDICTION
CREIGHTON 64
NEBRASKA 56
The story today will be the Nebraska women's volleyball team playing Oregon in Lincoln to advance in the NCAA tournment. Should be a great game and I think NU will beat them this time!!!
Nebraska got a commit from a Juco defensive back from Mississippi named Byerson Cockrell. Not highly rated by Rivals, Inc. but we do know that they miss many ratings. Nebraska will need cornerbacks and dime and nickel backs next year. We lose a lot at those positions. NU is looking at especially replacing Ciante Evans at nickel. Cockrell had offers from Middle Tennessee State, Northern Colorado, and Southern Mississippi. NU must see a lot that others aren't.
I am glad global warming is here. I wonder how cold it would be without it.
