NU Basketball!
Coach Miles has restricted use of the locker room and all the things that go with it. That includes IPODS in the toilet area and showers. It looks like they have to dress in their rooms and shower in their rooms. Consequences are tough. We will see how the team reacts. Tomorrow night they go to Ohio St. and it couldn't be much tougher of a game. Hopefully the Huskers can stay competitive or even pull off a huge upset but if it goes like the last game. EEEWW!
The trouble is the Huskers aren't shooting the ball at all in the basket. They, overall, don't have consistent shooters. Yes, Petteway can shoot at times and Shields can score but after that there isn't much support most of the time.
Last year Petteway and Shields were able to drive, drive, and drive to the basket and either make a layup or feed off to an open player like Pitchford. But teams have shut that whole game off. Scoring is not easy at all and NU has a tough time being competitive.
Ohio State will be very tough to beat in Columbus.
Ohio St. 71
NU 59

Nebraska pulls off an upset tomorrow against a highly rated Iowa team in men's basketball.
Nebraska 70
Iowa 69
Jameis Winston is doing well at the combines. Smart and athletic. Now if he can stay out of trouble.
How about Ameer Abdullah winning four of seven events in the running back competition, He was average in the 40 but besides that he did really well. He was first in the vertical jump, broad jump, 3-cone drill and the 20 yard shuttle.
Kenny Bell did well also. He was 3rd in the 40.
Evan Silva calls Ameer a stud. Best tester in the bunch.
Chris Bosh is out for the season in NBA news. Blood clots.
Andrew Wiggins has 17 20-point games this season, which is more than all the other NBA rookies combined.

Sports Shorts!
The Nebraska men's basketball team is not playing very well right now. Either is Creighton or UNO.
I think the fact that NU is struggling makes last year seem like a miracle. They excelled last year with maybe less talent. How did they do it last year? I know teams have figured out that to beat NU you guard Shields and Petteway and let the others shoot but really last year was amazing.
Creighton lost everybody but Chapman so their season is understandable. But they even found a way to beat NU. UNO isn't doing as well but I am not sure why. I think I was amazed how well they did last year so maybe its a little like NU.
NU should rebound on Tuesday against Northwestern who is in the cellar. This would put NU back to 5-5 and a 13-9 record. They are going to have to win six games out of eight in the final weeks before the tourney.
I don't see Terran Petteway going to the NBA. He has too much to work on. Andrew White sounds like a good shooter which NU needs a couple of. If Petteway would stay another year and White playing aling with a couple of new recruits, NU will be much improved. Maybe a Tyler Hagedom will walk-on. Norfolk is 17-0 and maybe headed to a Class A Championship!
The football team got two more on Saturday. Recruits that is. All the main visitors were from the south but I guess the snow didn't phase them too much. Alex Davis is a raw defensive end who has only played one year of football. He is out of Florida and was a commit out of Georgia Southern. Antonio Reed was a commit to Memphis who is now committed NU. He is listed as an athlete but could play safety.
It seems NU is getting a lot of raw players and so coaching them up and developing them will be key. Willie Sykes committed this week and admits he needs to learn lots of technique. We will see how this coaching staff does in that department. I have faith they can do it.
The NU women are doing pretty well. They are 16-4 and 6-3 in the league. They play Michigan this afternoon. Both teams look to go to the NCAA tournament but NU should and needs to win this afternoon.
By the way, the Super Bowl is today. Party time for some. I don't have a strong feeling about who I want to win or who I think will win but I will go with:
Seattle 31
New England 28
Omaha Benson's Kianna Ibis is maybe the best high school player in the state. She plays for the 17-0 Omaha Benson Bunnies. She was hurt yesterday but hopefully its just a bruise. She is regretfully headed to Arizona St.
Darrin Paulo, an offensive line recruit from California, loves NU's new strength coach, Mark Phillipp. Paulo also has a long time relationship with OL coach Mike Cavanaugh. He plans to announce tomorrow morning. GO NU!
Chase Elliot will replace Jeff Gordon in the Hendricks Motorsports Team in 2016.
The Lions may resign Suh. Looks like that is where he wants to stay.
Terence Crawford will vacate his title in the lightweight division and move up a class. Crawford, from Omaha, was named the 2014 ESPN,com fighter of the year. Crawford will fight March 21st in Omaha. The co-feature will be Nicholas Walters 2-0 defending his featherweight title. The opponents are not known at this time.
The New England Patriots tie the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl with eight appearances today.
Kansas City's opening day lineup looks like this:
SS Alcides Excobar
LF Alex Gordon
CF Lorenzo Cain
1B Eric Hosmer
C Salvador Perez
DH Kendrys Morales
RF Alex Rios
3B Mike Moustakis
2B Omar Infante
