Kenya Hunter will be Nebraska's top assistant coach in men's basketball. He comes to us via Georgetown. He has coached at Xavier and North Carolina St. He has been to the NCAA tournament a lot of times. He is great at recruiting and has a great resume of recruiting and coaching great players.
Why Lincoln?
He wants to be a head coach. He wants to learn a different offense. He wants to recruit and have a presence in the Midwest. He wants to coach a team that hopefully is on the rise. He wants to work in the great practice facility. He wants to see the sellout crowds in the new Pinnacle Arena.
That being said, I don't think Hunter will be at Nebraska long term but he will be a great hire for a year or two. Hopefully longer.
This isn't so much a negataive thing about Georgetown but a hugely positive sign for Nebraska. It's exciting. Let's hope he can recruit that next level of player.
Indiana to the CWS. Pretty exciting. They will compete. They probably won't win but they will complete. They are a much more talented team than Nebraska. Yes Nebraska almost beat them in the Big Ten tournament but if you look at the overall season they just plain have better hitting across the board. The question is can NU make up the difference by next season. Its possible, for sure. Relief and closing pitching will be the difference.
Who do you think will win the CWS? North Carolina, LSU, South Carolina, UCLA???
