The Nebraska baseball team opens its season on Friday vs. Stanford in a doubleheader at Stanford. The Cornhuskers have a lot of new players this year. Should be an interesting season. Johnny Dorn is the top returner for Nebraska. He leads a pitching staff that also includes Thad Weber and Dan Jennings.

Mitch Albeita is back at catcher. Cody Neer, the transfer from Florida, should start at first base. Tyler Farst will play first base and the outfield. Cody Neer will back up Mitch Albeita at catcher. At second base there is Jake Opitz. Both Jeff Tezak and Ben Kline will play shortstop. Jake Mort should be at third base. In the outfield, NU has DJ Belfonte and Bryce Nimmo. Also Nick Sullivan, Farst, and David Stewart will all start at times.

The schedule is made for younger players. The pitching and speed will be team assets. Power is not expected to be a positive. Hopefully some players will step up.
