Huskers Make First Visit to Rutgers: The Nebraska baseball team (26-15, 7-5 Big Ten) makes is first ever trip to Piscataway, N.J., this weekend for a three-game Big Ten series against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (21-20, 5-7 Big Ten). The series opens on Friday at 2 p.m. (CT) and will be the first meeting between the two teams as Big Ten opponents. Saturday's game is set for Noon and the finale is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Sport Shorts!

First of all I have to say I was saddened by Prince dying. The best ever concert I have attended is Prince at the MGM in Las Vegas. He was amazing. The word is that they have found thousands of unreleased songs and albums in a secret vault.

Professional basketball is coming to Omaha.  They will be a part of the NBLA and they will play at the Ralston arena. They will be known as the Omaha Chargers and a Rhino is in their logo. They will have a 20 game season from September to November. They hope to build rosters with familiar local names. They will look at Division II and NAIA players and may feature UNO, UNL, and Creighton players.

The Nebraska baseball team beat Nicholls State today. Jake Meyers was the pitching and batting hero. He pitched seven scoreless innings and had a home run at the plate.

Omaha World-Herald's Sam McKewon says that Nebraska has a disruptor. A person that will shake things up for Nebraska and move us up a couple of notches in college football. He is wide receivers coach Keith Williams. He is the king of Twitter and Calibraska.

John Wall says the Wizards hired Scott Brooks to win a title, not to sign Kevin Durant. I'm pretty sure that Kevin Durant won't be playing for them next year.

NU volleyball packs the Ogallala gym for an exhibition game yesterday versus Colorado. NU swept Colorado 25-16, 25-20, and 25-21. Briana Holman, and All-American transfer from LSU, had a great debut with nine kills and a pair of blocks. Kadie Rolfzen had 12 kills and six digs. Amber Rolfzen had seven kills and nine blocks.

Cubs win today versus Cinncy 9-0. Alex Gordon goes yard today and the Royals win too!!

The future of Nebraska football may be in the hands of the youthful defensive line.

Buster Olney has the Cubs the best team in baseball right now and the Royals a second.

It's the first time Nebraska has been swept in a three-game Big Ten series since April of last season when it went 0-3 at Iowa.

The 1967 Holdrege basketball and golf teams are being recognized by the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame. They will receive the Golden Anniversary Team Award.  The Dusters basketball team went 23-1, losing only to Grand Island, one of eight Class A teams on their schedule. They defeated Schuyler's "Jolly Green Giants" 66-54 in the state final. In golf, the Dusters shot the lowest single-round Class B score (237) to date while winning the first of back-to-back state titles.

Manny Pacquiao retired last night after beating Timothy Bradley.

Former Saints DE Will Smith was shot and killed in New Orleans last night. Senseless road rage incident. Smith went to Ohio State.

The NU football team had a 100 play scrimmage on Saturday. The No. 1's went 25 snaps. AJ Bush and Patrick O'Brien both threw TD passes to Ty Betka. Betka is a transfer from Drake University and a walk-on. He is from Superior, Nebraska.

Kahil Davis worked with the No. 1 defense yesterday. Greg McMullen is on a 'leave of absence'. Tanner Farmer is the No. 1 right guard right now.

The football satellite camps have been banned. Nebraska had six scheduled. Riley says it just doesn't make sense.

Nebraska men's basketball is looking at Dylan Osetkowski, 6-8 forward, Tulane transfer and James Palmer, 6-5 guard, transfer Miami, Fla.

Bernard Langer can become the oldest player today to win the Masters by almost ten years and Jordan Spieth could become the only player ever to repeat at a major with back-to-back wire-to-wire victories.

Mi'Cole Cayton, a top-100 prospect from California, said she will be still attending NU even tough Connie Yori is out as coach. Cayton played for USA Today's No. 1 high school team, St. Mary's. St Mary's was No. 1 until late in the season.

Husker baseball ends with Huskers 8 Northwestern 7. This allowed them to win the series with one game tomorrow.

Jonah Bradley is the new Lexington basketball coach.

Tristan Gebbia from Calabasas, California has committed to Nebraska. He is the No. 7 pro-style QB in the country. Gebbia is a teammate of Keyshawn Johnson Jr.

Also on Nebraska's radar is 4-star OT Henry Bainivalu from Washington, 4-star DE Chase Young from Maryland, 4-star OT Austin Deculus from Texas, 5-star WR Jeff Thomas from Illinois, 5-star Wyatt Davis from California, and 5-star Darnay Holmes from Calabasas, California(another teammate of Johnson and Gebbia). That's an exciting group.

Kyle Schwarber, the Cubs power hitter, was carted off the field tonight with some kind of knee injury. Hate that!! He's one of my favorites.

The most combined wins in a regular season game is 134 and was played tonight with the Spurs vs. Warriors. This game is still in the first quarter and is tied 13-13.

The average attendance at the Nebraska Spring game the past 11 games is 67,082. There are 52,000 tickets sold so far.

NCAA women's hoops final attendance was 14,514. The NCAA women's VB final had 17,509 and that game was in Omaha.

AP reports Connie Yori got paid 1.2 million dollars to leave.

Trent Harmon won the final "American Idol". I have no clue what he sounds like.

Huskers Improve to 5-1 in Big Ten with 9-7 Win: Lincoln – After dropping the series opener on Friday night, the Nebraska baseball team (19-8, 5-1 Big Ten) responded with victories in the final two games of its series with the Illinois Fighting Illini (11-14, 3-3 Big Ten), including a 9-7 win on Sunday in front of a packed house on an 80 degree day at Hawks Field. The Huskers won their second straight conference series and improved to 5-1 on the year in league play.

The best two teams are left in NCAA basketball; Villanova and North Carolina. Tomorrow night this game should be a barn burner. This game is pretty much a toss-up but I think Villanova will rule just by a little 80-79.

Major League baseball is here!!  Go Royals and Go Cubs!! The Royals game tonight is a rematch of the 2015 World Series.

Nebraska baseball took two out of three from Illinois this weekend. Illinois had been 18-3 in Big Ten road games going back to 2014. Today's victory was 9-7 as the offensive power continues.
