Sport Shorts!

Oh wow, what a boxing match last weekend on HBO. Mike Alvarado 34-1 beat Brandon Rios 31-1-1 in a very close decision. So much great excitement and now their only loses have been to each other. Watch for bout number three between them soon.

How about Terrance Crawford from Omaha. He beat Breidis Prescott, the favorite pretty easily. Crawford is now 20-0 and he is closest thing to Muhammed Ali since Muhammed Ali. He fights light welterweight but watch him and he will remind you of the "Greatest of all time!".

Nebraska baseball is 11-16 and 5-1 in the conference. They are headed to Iowa this week. Huge weekend for NU. Nebraska has to win the Big 10 now to make it into post season play. Christian DeLeon 2-2 goes Friday, Ryan Hander 0-2 Saturday, and Tyler Niederklein pitches Sunday. It won't be easy so if NU is to make something of this season they have to start out by beating Iowa and 5-1 Matt Dermody Friday night.

Tubby Smith was fired by Minnesota! Why? Now he is headed to Texas Tech. Rick Petino's son is the new coach at Minnesota.

Louisville beats Wichita St 72-60 on Saturday and in a toss up game and maybe another overtime, Michigan knocks off Syracuse 71-70.  Its Louisville and Michigan playing for the national championship.

Hannibal starts tonight on NBC. May be a hit!

Alliance's Brodick Nickens has switched from offense to the defensive line. He is playing well and he is known as a bad dude. He is a leader by example.

This Saturday is the Red-White game. We will get to see some new players try to prove themselves while the veterans watch. There's some many players to watch it is hard to name them all but all eyes will be on Tommy Armstrong.

Nathan Gerry is my favorite recruit coming in this fall. Well, he just broke the 100-meter record in South Dakota with a 10.28. He did that running in tights because of the cold weather. Gerry will be at the Red-White game on Saturday.

Jamie Guthrie pitched real well today as the Royals won their first game of the season. Alex Gordon was 2-4 and raised his average to .273.

And the Cubbies won today over Pittsburgh 3-2.

Cubs and Royals in the World Series!! haha
