Sports Update!

Defensive Coordinator John Papuchis and defensive end Jason Ankrah both graduated from North Potomac, Marland Quince Orchard High School. This week Nebraska picked up a commit from Marcus Newby who plays at the same school. He is a 6' 1" linebacker and he is rated a four star by rivals.com. Newby has had a lot of offers but it got down to Penn St. and Nebraska. This gives Nebraska three commits at linebacker for 2013.

NU basketball is after 6'5" R.J. Curlington out of Virginia. He plans to visit NU in the fall. He is a shooting guard and his stock is rising.  He has offers from Maryland, Stanford, Florida St and many others. He is noted for his team play, shooting ability and strong defense.

The Cubs have won four in a row. Samardzija had 11 strikeouts as they beat Atlanta 4-1 last night. Rizzo has been with the Cubs one week and looks like the real deal.

Fan Day for the Nebraska football team is August 3rd from 2-3:30.

KC Royals knocked off Toronto last night 11-3. Teaford pitched well for his first victory after being called up from Omaha and Moustakas hit his first ever grand slam. The Royals are 5.5 games out right now.
