Nebraska needs solid win versus Northwestern today.

Nebraska has dropped to 59th in the Pomeroy ratings. Pomeroy is just a guideline but it shows the loss to Illinois hurt them. They dropped nine places.

Nebraska is a very good defensive team and they must keep up the pace. They are rated 32nd in the nation in Defense Efficiency which takes all the defensive statistics and puts them into a ratio.

Nebraska needs a good game out of a bunch of players today. Of course Petteway and Shields have to be solid. Walter Pitchford is a key player when they are palying well. He hits threes and rebounds a ton. Webster has to get some drives to the basket and a couple of layups. Parker steals the ball two or three times and David Rivers just disrupts the opposing teams offensive and hustles like crazy. Those things have to continue for NU to shine.

Look to NU to rebound today at home.

Nebraska 64
Northwestern 55

Terence "Bud" Crawford is so much fun to watch. He reminds me of a smaller Muhammed Ali at times. Well the Omahan is going after the WBO Lightweight Title tonight in Glasgow, Scotland. He fights Ricky Burns who is 36-2-1. Crawford is 22-0.

Crawford is attempting to become the first Nebraskan in 100 years to win a major boxing title this afternoon. Only two fighters from the region, middleweight Ace Hudkins (1929) and heavyweight Ron Stander (1972), from Council Bluffs, are known to have challenged for a title sincePerry "Kid" Graves claimed a vacant welterweight title in 1914.

Crawford often wears a Husker cap when he enters the ring.

The fight is being covered on AWE TV at 1 pm if you get that channel.

Bo Pelini got a $100,000 raise. His 2014 salary will be $3,075,000. His contract goes through February of 2018.

The girl's Holdrege Dusters (20-4) play York (18-6) at 8:45 on Thursday night at Devaney. Go Dusters!
