Bucket list item this Saturday!

OK, so one of my bucket list items has been to attend a boxing world championship. Well, it just happens that we have this opportunity this weekend and it only comes along every fourty years in Nebraska.

Saturday night we have the WBO Lightweight Championship at the Century Link in Omaha Nebraska!! How fun is that. There is four fights scheduled on HBO that night.

Main event:
Terrance Crawford 23-0 with 16 knockouts fights Youiorkis Gamboa who has an identical record of 23-0 with 16 knockouts for the WBO Champonship in a 12 round fight. Crawford is from Omaha and he usually has on some Nebraska Cornhusker attire before every fight. He reminds me of Muhammed Ali in his boxing style. He is very entertaining.

Gamboa is from Cuba and now lives in Florida. He is the former WBA and IBF Featherweight Champion.

The second main fight of the night also features undefeated boxers for 10 rounds. This fight is for the WBO Inter-Continental Middleweight title.

Matt Korobov is 23-0 with 14 knockouts. He is from Russia and now lives in Florida. Korobov represented Russia in the 2008 Olympics and turned professional in 2008.

Korobov goes against Jose Uzcategul who is 23-0 with 18 knockouts. Uzcategul was born in Venezuela and now lives in Mexico. He goes by the name Bolivita.

In a welterweight fight, Mikael Zewski 23-0 with 18 knockouts fights Prince Doku Jr. 9-4. Zewski is from Canada and Doku, known as "too hot", is from Ghana.

The fourth main fight of the night and one that is also to be on HBO as the previous three is Koustantiu Ponomarez 17-1 vs. Hextor Munoz 21-10-1 and 14 knockouts. Ponomarez is from Russia. Munoz is known as "The Hurricane" and his claim to fame was beating Hector "Macho" Comacho.

Some of the undercard fights should be interesting.

Johnny Determan, who is 23 years old, was born in Omaha but now lives in Texas.  He is 7-0 with six coming from knockouts. He fights Ernie Marquez who is 9-13-2 with 3 knockouts. His last seven opponents have a combined record of 125-7-4. This could be an interesting fight. This is a six round bantamweight division fight.

Jovany Fuentes  5-4 with 4 knockouts fights Victor Pasillas 7-0 with 3 knockouts in a 6 round bantamweight fight. Fuentes is from Puerto Rico.

Guillermo Sanchez 13-12-1 with five knockouts goes six rounds with Casey Ramos (No Record) in a six round Super Featherweight fight.

Bernard Davis from Omaha 1-0 goes against Bryan Timmons (Wichita) 1-1 in a four round featherweight fight.

I believe the first fight of the night will be Ronnie Peterson 2-6-1 with 3 knockouts going against Cody Crowley (Canada) in his Pro debut in a four round Super Welterweight fight.

I can't wait. I think tickets are still available. It will be worth it!!
