Miami Heat-NBA Champs

The Miami Heat are #1 in the NBA. I wanted it to go seven because this is the first time since Michael Jordon and the Bulls won that I cared to watch them. The NBA is coming back. Shaq is still good and Dywane Wade is the best!! Except for maybe LaShon. Pat Reilly wins again!! It was fun.

Mark Cuban got fined $250M for yelling on the court at the refs. Stern has to love him, even though he causes him trouble some times, because he has taken the Dallas team and made them winners. He is fun to watch and very unpredictable. That's what the NBA needs.

John McEnroe and Jimmie Connors were colorful in tennis. It was fun to watch. Tiger Woods created excitement in golf. Ali was great in self-promotion and we use to live for heavyweight boxing. Howard Cosell was outspoken but respected. Even Bill Clinton gained popularity by being controversial. These people cause excitement and people watch them.

This writer loves to see the drivers in NASCAR upset at each other. People love to hate and love drivers and they love to cheer against a driver as much as support their favorite driver. Each week there is a different rivalry and we can't wait to see what happens.

The College World Series is fun this year and there is no clear cut winner yet so each game is exciting. North Carolina looks to me to be the favorite with Rice close behind.

There is hope that Jake Gdowski gets a scholarship to NU to play football. This writer hopes he can wait until later in the year to get an offer from them. He is about 6'3" and 265 and fast, smart and tough as a bull. He will be a senior at Grand Island High this coming year. Colorado State and Wyoming will offer him a scholarship and a couple of Big 12 schools will get in the action too. This writer hopes NU is one of them.

Lance Thorell of Loomis is an unknown at this time but he can play high caliber football. The Loomis High School athlete has excelled in football, track and basketball. He played QB on offense last year but his position is cornerback, safety or wide receiver. He will be the best skilled position player in this area this coming year.

Noah Keller from Kearney will go Division I as a linebacker. He will have a number of scholarship offers. NU will be looking at him closely. The Kearney/GI football game this fall should be a great one.

NU will have another good recruiting class this coming year. They should get a couple of very quality QB's to sign and they are in line for a number of the top players in the nation.

Eric Gustafson will excel at UNK. Tremendous athlete.

The new Royals GM is already making some changes and the Royals are starting to win. Look for them to be decent for the rest of the year. More importantly look for the excitement for Royals baseball to come back and going to a Royals baseball game will be part of the vacation plans around here again. This writer would like to see them play this year. Seats will be easy to get now vs. a few years from now.
